Change Is in the Air!
One more week and this season of Baseball Chapel will be done for another year. We reflect on when we went into missions, knowing it was a privilege to be a part of what God was doing in Venezuela and to be an extension of our supporting churches and individuals as we worked with, discipled, and aided the Maquiritare church to get back on its feet. Years later we returned stateside and counted it a joy to work here in Central New York with the Spanish-speaking population. We have felt your prayers and support for the work and thank you from the depths of our hearts.
Yet now we see God leading us in a new direction and we are stepping out by faith on a new adventure with Him. The First Baptist Church of Skaneateles, NY has been without a pastor for some time and their numbers have dwindled to just a few. It is an older church with great potential and a deep desire to grow. This past week we accepted the call to the pastorate. Hopefully by the end of the month we will be settled in our new home and ministry. We're excited to be able to be a part of what God wants to do in and through this church body.
For us to have been able to consider this change in our lives meant overcoming many obstacles. It has been exciting to see God clearing the waters, to see Him work in circumstances to make the seemingly impossible possible, and to give us peace of mind and heart to embark on a new adventure with Him.
Though we will be moving and changing our focus, some things will not change at this time. Rosie will continue to work as secretary at Second Baptist Church. Matt plans to keep two of the services he has with the Guatemalans going, realizing he will need to fit these around his other responsibilities.
Therefore, effective the beginning of September, we will no longer be missionaries with Second Baptist Missions Agency. All financial gifts sent in for us through the end of August will be given to us. We thank you for your many years of prayer and financial support. We thank you for your friendship and caring hearts and ask that you continue to remember us in prayer as we move into a new ministry. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.
